In case you missed it, the Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 finale is set for a major delay in April. Naturally, people were dismayed knowing that they will have to wait a little longer for Episode 87. However, some are also curious why The Final Season's final episode is being pushed back for so long. Not surprisingly, this had led to new speculations about an Attack on Titan movie being in the works!
It was previously reported that Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 will be facing several delays in the future. The anime's official Twitter account confirmed that Episode 84 will be delayed by 10 minutes due to a special presentation on March 3, 2022. In addition to that, Episode 87, which is set to be the final episode, is being pushed back to premiere a week after the original schedule.
But what is the reason for all these delays on The Final Season Part 2? The tweet indicated that there will be a special presentation on NHK General TV next month. It was also confirmed that the program is the reason why Attack on Titan Episode 87 will not air on March 27 and instead will premiere a week later.
Although it's a straightforward reason, fans can't help but speculate on the delay. Some believe that it means MAPPA is hard at work on a new project that is still related to Attack on Titan. Since the episode count of The Final Season doesn't seem enough to tell the last chapter in the manga, there is a possibility that the final chapters will be adapted in a film.
It's an awesome idea but it is also important to point out that the movie has not yet been officially announced. With that in mind, we'll be looking forward to Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2's RED Stage panel at Anime Japan in hopes that there will be an official announcement.
Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 23 is titled Sunset ("Yuyake"), which is also the title Chapter 125 in the manga. Episode 82 will air on Monday, February 20, 2022, at 12:05 AM JST.
