The wait for the Army of the Dead prequel is almost over. Army of Thieves has been given an official release date set and will premiere on Netflix this October.
Netflix had a huge success with Army of the Dead earlier this year so it is no surprise that people have been hoping for a sequel to the Zack Snyder flick. Although a sequel is now in development, we can expect the prequel featuring Ludwig Dieter later this year.
Although Army of Thieves had already been completed for some time, there haven't been a lot of updates on the prequel. This changed when Netflix dropped a brief teaser confirming the film's release date.
Army of Thieves was confirmed in September 2020, long before the premiere of Army of the Dead. The prequel was even completed before the first movie was released on Netflix. Luckily, we'll finally get to see the film in October.

The synopsis for Army of Thieves reads as follows:
"In this prequel to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol's most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe."
The prequel will bring back Matthias Schweighöfer as Dieter and introduce former Game of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel as the mysterious Gwendoline. Army of Thieves also stars Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Noemie Nakai, and Peter Simonischek. The movie premieres on Netflix on October 29, 2021.
