One of the MCU series that is currently in development is Armor Wars, which will focus on Don Cheadle's James Rhodes/War Machine as he confronts one of Tony Stark's greatest fears when Stark's tech falls into the wrong hands. A while ago, Marvel Studios hired Yassir Lester to serve as the head writer. Filming is expected to begin around next year.
Speaking during a virtual interview at the ACE Comic Con, Cheadle was asked to tease about the upcoming series. While he hilariously dodged the question, he did comment on the character's "exciting" future in the MCU.
"I think the most exciting part is yet to come," the actor said. "I think we don't really have a super-strong idea who he is really, outside of that bubble of the Avengers, outside of necessarily his friendship with Tony, and now he's gonna kind of be untethered from all of that. So it's an opportunity to really kind of discover who he is in a way that we have not had before with concentrated time and focus on Rhodey and Rhodey's journey and hopefully some stuff about his past and you know teeing up some things about his potential future. I think those kinds of things were hinted at in an Endgame where this character might go and the things that may be in the offing for him."
The character was last seen in a cameo appearance during the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Ever since he was introduced in the very first Iron Man film, Rhodey has always been a side character, particularly to Tony Stark. It's great that we would now get an opportunity to see Rhodey on his own through projects such as Armor Wars. It also looks like Marvel has a lot of plans for the character beyond the series and it seems that he will be more prominent in the MCU moving forward.

As of now, there's still no release date for Armor Wars.
