Are Prince Harry and Prince William Close?

Prince Harry and Prince William are maybe royals, but their sibling relationship is just like others. They, too, argue and fight, but before all the revelations and allegations, the two used to be close.

Prince Harry and Prince William were born two years apart, in 1984 and 1982, respectively. They were close as kids, but as they grew up and had their own families, they started to grow apart.

Prince Harry and Prince William’s Relationship Used to be Intimate

Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton revealed in Royals Monthly, via Us Weekly, in 2019 that the two princes’ relationship is “incredibly intimate.”

“Nobody apart from each other knows exactly—not even their father—what’s gone on in their heads and their hearts for the last 20-odd years,” he continued. “They both experienced the loss of their mother. The only people that they could trust to talk about it in a candid way was each of them.”

Prince Harry and Prince William were 12 and 15 years old when their mother died in a car crash in 1997.

However, they started to distance themselves from each other as time passed.

The Start of Feud Rumors Between Prince Harry, Prince William

Rumors about Prince Harry and Prince William’s feud started circulating in 2018 after the Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to move from Nottingham Cottage in London to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, England—far from the Prince and Princess of Wales’ home.

To add more fuel to the fire, the Sussexes split their royal charity from the Cambridges in 2019.

“It was always the case that when Prince Harry married, he would have his own household and his own home,” Morton explained.

“It is traditional that when you marry, you get your own place and have your own household with your own private secretary, equerry [and] other court functionaries,” Morton added. “They’re very, very close … they’re also very competitive—and always have been.”

A source confirmed to Us that they began to grow apart over the years.

“William still cares about Harry and is hoping that he’ll open up to him about his current struggles,” the source revealed in 2019. “William wants to be there for Harry and hates seeing him in such a bad place

Prince Harry Describes Prince William as His Arch Nemesis

The feud between Prince Harry and Prince William was expected to worsen when the former dropped his bombshell memoir, Spare, on January 10.

In the book, the former senior royal even described his “beloved brother” as his “arch nemesis.” He unveiled that they had a verbal and physical fight.

He also alleged their relationship was complicated, marred by “jealousy and competition.”

Prince Harry also accused Prince William of breaking a “longstanding pact” between them not to let their offices or brief the press against each other. Sadly, he claimed the opposite happened.

But despite everything that has been said and done, Prince Harry is still hoping to reconcile with his older brother and the rest of the royal family.
