Prince Harry and Meghan have remained the Duke and Duchess of Sussex despite the calls for them to be stripped of their royal titles. The late Queen Elizabeth II bestowed those titles upon their marriage in 2018.

After the 12-month review period, Queen Elizabeth confirmed the stepping down of Prince Harry and Meghan from their senior working royal roles in February 2021 following their announcement in 2020. Their honorary military appointments and royal patronages were removed, but they kept their royal titles.

Despite that, they will continue to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton, and the Baron and Baroness Kilkeel, and these are yet to change.
Why Can Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Keep Their Royal Titles?
Despite all the commotions, revelations, and allegations that strain Prince Harry’s relationship with the royal family, he and his wife remain royals—members of the royal family.
Hence, they’re still entitled to use their Sussex titles. There has to be an Act of Parliament to remove these titles, with a statute passed by the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

According to royal sources, this is “unlikely” to happen. The last time it occurred was in 1917, and it involved actual treason.
It’s also good to note that Prince Harry has continued his work with the Invictus Games and Sentebale charity, while Meghan is still the patron of the Mayhew animal welfare charity and Smart Works.
Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Aren’t Giving Up Their Royal Titles?
In an interview with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes, the father of two directly answered the question about why they weren’t giving up their royal titles.
"What difference would that make?" he asked, viaE! News.
He then revealed that he had tried a different approach with his family.

"Every single time I've tried to do it privately, there would be briefings and leakings and planting stories against me and my wife," he explained. "You know, the family motto is never complain, never explain, but it's just a motto."
The show claimed it had reached out to Buckingham Palace to get its side over Prince Harry’s claims, but NBC News revealed it, and Kensington Palace refused to comment.
