Aquaman’s James Wan Clarifies Rumors That He’s Developing A Batman Horror Movie

Last week, James Wan said that it was his dream to make a Batman horror film for the DC Extended Universe. It was an exciting idea for many, and DC fans started taking the snippet a bit too seriously, going around saying that Wan was actually MAKING a Batman horror movie for Warner Brother's burgeoning superhero franchise.

Now, Wan's taken to Twitter to clear up the misunderstanding, saying that he isn't actually making the film. Posting on the social media site, Wan clarified that the whole desire to do a horror Batman movie for the DCEU was "a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question" and the project actually wasn't in the works.

Of course, this might come as a disappointment to the fans that wholeheartedly believed that the project was in the making. There are a lot of great Batman horror comics to choose from like Scott Snyder's Batman: Death of the Family with its deep and horrific visuals. Doug Moench's chilling The Batman & Dracula trilogy would also have been a good choice if ever DC was interested in a Batman horror movie – imagine the Dark Knight turning into a withered and nasty vampire after Bruce Wayne gets into a confrontation with Dracula.

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on A Serious House is also a terrifying comic that explores the limits of sanity as Batman finds himself trapped within the walls of Arkham Asylum.

Unfortunately, none of these comics are going to be explored because there's already a whole lot of Batman to go around in the DCEU.

Wan's DCEU movie, Aquaman, comes swimming into cinemas December 21, 2018.
