Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may have suffered a huge production blow with the news of lead star Jason Momoa contracting the COVID-19 virus. We reported last week that the DC Extended Universe star was forced to self-isolate after finding out about the diagnosis. As it stands, we still don't have any idea if the incident resulted in the production getting halted.

When the news blew up, we didn't get any confirmation from the people working on the project until last Friday when Momoa himself confirmed that the rumors of him getting COVID-19 are actually true. In a series of Instagram story videos posted from his home, the actor said that he's doing fine and believes he got the virus during the London premiere of Dune where he also stars.

"I got hit with COVID right after the premiere," he said. Momoa added: "There's a lot of people I met in England. Got a lot of aloha from people, and who knows."

Momoa is a pretty strong and fit dude so battling COVID will be a walk in the park for him. But if this entire incident teaches us something, it's that the threat of the pandemic is still existent and just because some parts of the world are already trying to embrace normalcy, it doesn't mean that we should no longer take the precautions needed.

As for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, hopefully, Momoa will be able to get back to filming as soon as he's cleared.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits cinemas on December 16, 2022.
