For the past year and a half, the COVID-19 pandemic has become a major pain in the you-know-where for the entire entertainment industry. Now, while it may seem like we're slowly going back to normalcy, the threat of the deadly virus is still real and the chances of it jeopardizing projects that are currently in production are still extremely high.

Speaking of, it appears like a major DC project has been affected by COVID and according to a new report, its main star contracted the virus while filming. British tabloid The Sun reports (via ComicBookMovie) that Jason Momoa has tested positive for COVID-19 while filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and was forced to self-isolate.

The specifics of Momoa's COVID diagnosis weren't disclosed but according to the tabloid's scoop, the situation is causing major concern within the production and rightfully so. For starters, Momoa is the lead star of the upcoming DCEU film and his absence would mean that filming could potentially get halted unless of course Momoa has already filmed important scenes for the sequel. Secondly, a potential delay in the film's production will result in a huge financial loss for Warner Bros. and that's not gonna be good for everyone.

As it stands, other news outlets have yet to pick up The Sun's story and judging by the tabloid's reputation, you can take this report with a huge grain of salt. Now, if the rumors are actually true, we wish Jason Momoa a speedy recovery and hopefully, his absence won't cause any major problems for the film because quite frankly, we can't afford to have the project delayed anew.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits cinemas on December 16, 2022.
