Aquaman Confirmed to Film on Gold Coast

With some new photos of Aquaman recently revealed to show just how great Jason Momoa would look as the King of Atlantis, the shoot location for the movie has also been confirmed.

The Courier-Mail reported that Aquaman will be the first DC film that will be shot in Australia. And with the Gold Coast as the chosen location, the film will reel in $160 million for the local economy.

From the looks of it, the credit to successfully getting Warner Bros. to film the movie in Queensland is still seeing some conflict, with different sectors claiming credit for it. According to the source, there is tension between the Federal Government and the State government as to which sector the success should be credited to.

On the Federal Government side, there's claim off a $22 million that had sealed the deal for production. Though the Queensland Premiere and Arts Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk is also staking claim to the credit.

"Queensland was successful in winning a competitive bid to attract Aquaman, contributing to our reputation as a leading film destination."

Still what's important is that the filming deal will bring in approximately 1,200 jobs into the economy. And it's also a nice nod to director James Wan, who hails from Australia himself.

Aquaman will be released in theaters on Oct. 5, 2018.
