AOA’s Chanmi opened up about the bullying scandal that marred the girl group in 2019, involving former members Mina and Jimin. At the time, she admitted she wanted to quit the band, but she stayed thanks to her mom, Lim Chun Shook.

Chanmi and her mother graced tvN’s “Yoo Quiz on the Block” on Wednesday, June 15. The singer-actress shared how great her mother was, helping her and other people navigate through life.

Chanmi Has Nothing But Good Praise For Her Mom

According to AllKpop, Lim Chun Sook is a salon director. She has already appeared on different shows in the past for her good heart, helping rebellious and wandering teenagers by taking them into her care and providing them food and a place to stay.

Talking about her generous act, she said if she feeds them and gives them a place to sleep, they will be psychologically at ease and will never do bad things.

“So I would find out their parents' phone numbers while comforting them,” she said. “After contacting their parents and telling them to 'be at ease', I brought the children with me and returned them [to their parents]."

With these things her mom does, Chanmi, of course, is very proud of her mother.

“When I was young, I thought all hair salons were just like this,” she revealed. “My mom started youth volunteer services when I was in my twenties and when thinking about my age now, I think it's so amazing of her."

Chanmi Affected By Mina, Jimin’s Bullying Scandal

Chanmi then opened up about her feelings toward the AOA bullying scandal when Mina started to throw accusations against Jimin.

She revealed she was so confused at the time, so she asked her mom if she should just quit.

“When I said that, my mom replied, 'then just quit,” she said. “If Chanmi is not happy and wants to quit, then she should stop doing it.”

She explained to her mother that she had lived only doing this job. So if she quit, she didn’t know what to do for a living.

Of course, her mother assured her that she would be fine even if she left the K-pop world.

“My mom told me I can work together with her at the hair salon,” she continued. "Since I [realized that I] can quit whenever I want to quit, I began to think I should keep going a little further.”

This realization made Chanmi thankful for her mom.

“Everyone just tells me to endure. I was thankful that she told me that I don't have to endure,” she explained.
