Ant-Man 3 Fans Left in Shock at "Unreasonable" Absence of Fan-Favorite Character

As Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania continues to receive mixed reactions from both fans and critics, MCU fans were left in even more shock at director Peyton Reed’s big reveal behind the absence of the franchise’s fan-favorite character, Luis, played by Michael Peña.

Luis has always been one of the greatest comic relief characters in the franchise, and fans testified that his absence had been one of the “biggest mistakes” Reed made upon making the threequel happen. See, even previous characters such as Kurt (David Dastmalchian) got to return with a new role. MCU fans couldn’t think of any other explanation behind leaving Luis in the dust.

While Ant-Man fans are left distraught on Reed’s words: “There were no versions of this movie [with Luis]” and “It just didn’t make sense [to include Luis and co.’.”, the director’s complete statement involves the idea of only bringing in the Lang family together. Seeing how Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania not only brought in Kang the Conqueror, but even MODOK, the casting number was too great to ignore.

However, this doesn’t mean we have seen the last of Luis’ antics! A potential Ant-Man 4 was confirmed ahead of Ant-Man 3’s release, and seeing as it could possibly go off radar from big Avengers-level storylines, there’s a huge chance of Peña returning.

Peña’s Luis may have been considered as a comic relief type of character in the films, but that’s exactly what makes the Ant-Man franchise different from the other MCU films. Without Scott Lang’s trio best friends, it wouldn’t have been a fun movie, which is actually one of the many complaints of MCU fans behind the reason for their mixed reviews on the threequel.

As Marvel Phase 5 welcomes Kang the Conqueror and a new slate of MCU heroes, Ant-Man 3 as its opener seems to be a hit-and-miss with its viewers. While this goes according to plan in their introduction of the new big bad, how is Ant-Man's future looking in the MCU?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now showing in cinemas.
