Specifically, anime YouTuber Glass Reflection released a new video about Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.

While the video focuses mostly on the new Gundam anime, a comment about 70s anime earned him the ire of anime fans online.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is an anime by Sunrise. It's the first Gundam TV anime in seven years following Iron-Blooded Orphans.

The Witch from Mercury is also significant for having a female protagonist, which is a first for the long-running series.

Its story is set in the year 122 A.S. (Ad Stella). In this era, corporations have entered space and built a massive economic system.

Specifically, the anime follows Suletta Mercury, a girl who transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology which is run by the Benerit Group, a company that dominates the Mobile Suit industry.

In the video, he said that he “would not recommend anime from the 70s,” and while most of the top comments on the video didn’t seem to mind this, the same can’t be said on Twitter.

On the Twitter post promoting the latest video, several fans criticized him for his statement, saying that it is a massive generalization given that there are lots of great anime from that decade that have aged well.

While Glass Reflection did say that he likes the old Lupin III series, some fans on Twitter said that he should try more 70s anime such as Mazinger Z as there are lots of hidden gems from that decade.

Although, it might be difficult to track down some of these older shows, unlike The Witch from Mercury, which is being streamed weekly on Crunchyroll.
