Disney+ and Lucasfilm have finally dropped the official trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series Andor, the prequel to 2016's Rogue One that focuses on Diego Luna's Cassian Andor. In addition, they also announced that the release date of the series has been delayed to September 21 from the originally-announced August 31 date. However, the good news is it will premiere with three episodes.

The official trailer gave us a glimpse at how Cassian Andor found himself to be involved in the rebellion during its earlier days as well as a look at the political machinations of the Empire during the period through the eyes of Mon Mothma. They also showed the first look at the return of Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker reprising the role from Rogue One.

Based on this new footage, it looks like the series is going to be epic as they teased a lot of set pieces and space battles that we haven't seen much in the other Star Wars live-action shows. They also seemingly implied that Stellan Skarsgard's Luthen will also have a prominent role in the series considering his screentime throughout the trailer.

Besides Luna, Whitaker, and Skarsgard, the cast also includes Genevieve O'Reilly, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Fiona Shaw, Kyle Soller, Robert Emms, and David Hayman. Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote and oversaw the reshoots of Rogue One, serves as the showrunner.

The series is expected to run for two seasons as confirmed by Gilroy a while ago and it will showcase the entire five-year tale that leads to the events of Rogue One. Production for the second season is expected to begin this November.
