Anakin Skywalker Star Hayden Christensen Reportedly in Talks to Return to Star Wars

Hayden Christensen might have received a whole lot of backlash playing Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas contentious prequel trilogy, however, over the years Star Wars fans have come to realize the injustice behind the attacks against the actor. Some have even warmed up to the prequel's Anakin Skywalker.

For the past few years, there have been reports saying Christensen would make an appearance in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy, and while the rumors never really materialized, it seems like the actor was supposed to make a return.

According to a report by LRM Online, Christensen was "in talks" to make an appearance as Anakin Skywalker in one way or another. Disney and Lucasfilm were supposed to announce the actor's return during Star Wars Celebration set for August this year. Unfortunately, there still isn't any assurance that the COVID-19 pandemic might end by then. Sure, the convention may not have been postponed yet, but odds are the organizers may have to cancel the event to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

While we advise fans to take this report with a grain of salt (as with any rumor), it's long been speculated that Anakin might make a return. Christensen used to avoid Star Wars conventions and gatherings after the prequel trilogy came to an end, however, the actor has been seen attending Star Wars events over the past few years.

Sure, the Skywalker saga may have come to an end with The Rise of Skywalker, but Lucasfilm is still planning a number of series and films for the franchise. Anakin could appear in any of those projects, perhaps in Obi-Wan Kenobi, perhaps in Cassian Andor.

Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available on Digital HD.
