Amidala’s Handmaiden Sabe May Appear in Cassian Andor Series

Star Wars fans were surprised when word came out this week that Adria Arjona had been cast in Lucasfilm's upcoming Disney+ Rogue One spinoff series, Cassian Andor. The studio hasn't given that many updates about the series the past few months, and so news about Arjona's casting came as a welcome surprise to the Star Wars fanbase.

Though details about Arjona's character in the Cassian Andor series are largely unknown, some fans have noticed how the actress looks suspiciously similar to Star Wars prequel stars Kiera Knightly and Natalie Portman. Now, there's speculation that the actress may be appearing in Cassian Andor as an instrumental but very minor prequel character – Padme's decoy, Sabe.

According to a report by the Dork Side of the Force, there's been speculation that Sabe may very well return to the galaxy far, far away. While Padme's decoy played only a very minor role in the prequels, Sabe played a vital role in protecting Padme.

The character has been given a bit more depth by Star Wars writer E.K. Johnston in her two books about Amidala, Star Wars: Queens Shadow and Star Wars: Queen's Peril. She's also been given a surprising twist in Star Wars current Darth Vader comic book run where Sabe's been turned into an unexpected villain.

Seeing her rising popularity, it would make sense for Lucasfilm to have Sabe appear in a series like Cassian Andor. It would help tie the series to the Skywalker saga.

Cassian Andor is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
