The jury in the defamation trial opposing Johnny Depp and Amber Heard reached a verdict on the third day of deliberations, finding in favor of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.
The seven-person panel just issued a verdict to the packed courtroom that the Aquaman actress defamed, with "actual malice," her former husband in a late 2018 The Washington Post op-ed Amber wrote about becoming the “public face of domestic abuse.”

Johnny Depp was seeking $50 million in damages, but the jury only awarded him $15 million -- $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. The second count of Amber Heard’s $100 million countersuit, however, was found in the London Fields actress’ favor and the jury awarded her $2 million in damages.
The Black Mass actor was not in the courtroom on Wednesday when the verdict was read out. Representatives for Johnny Depp, earlier today, announced he would be watching from Britain as he has been touring with close friend Jeff Beck up until last night.
Amber Heard, for her part, graced the Fairfax County Courthouse, together with her lawyers, before the jurors and Judge Penny Azcarte. She has counter-sued for $100 million, saying Johnny Depp smeared her by calling her a liar.
Prior to the reading of the verdict, the judge had lawyers from both parties approach to discuss the lack of damages of the verdict. The jury, who started their deliberations late last week following a high-profile six-week trial, were also sent out of the courtroom to put in a figure of at least $1 dollar, as per the judge’s instruction.
