All of Us Are Dead actor Yoon Chan Young almost had a different career.

The year 2022 immediately became a fruitful one for Yoon Chan Young as his series, All of Us Are Dead, immediately became a hit series soon after its arrival on Netflix. This even strengthened the empire he has been building for years since he debuted in 2013.

But before starring in several series and movies, Yoon Chan Young almost became a K-pop idol instead as he once trained with ASTRO.

All of Us Are Dead Actor Yoon Chan Young Used to be an Idol Trainee

Yoon Chan Young and his All of Us Are Dead co-star, Lee Yoo Mi, recently appeared in the latest episode of KBS’s Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook as guests.

During their interview with the show’s host, Yoo Hee Yeol mentioned that he found out Yoon Chan Yeong used to be an idol trainee. The young actor, in return, confirmed it and said that he was already working as an actor when he received a call from an agency.

“They suggested that if I learned singing and dancing at a young age, it would help me out a lot down the road. So I became a sort of part-time trainee, and I trained with the other trainees at the agency. That’s how I met the ASTRO hyungs,” he said.

He recalled the first day as a trainee, saying that Rocky was eating dinner inside the practice room when he welcomed him warmly with a bulgogi stew. For Yoon Chan Young, that memory would always be part of his life though 10 years have already passed.

Yoo Hee Yeol asked him how old Rocky was at that time, with the actor saying that the now-idol was only 15 (by Korean reckoning) when he met the ASTRO member.

As for Lee Yoo Mi’s part, she told Yoo Hee Yeol she once worked part-time before rising to fame through Squid Game. The actress said that she worked part-time by making deliveries through a food delivery app before her big break on the Netflix hit series came.

“The peak hours were from 2 to 5, and you keep getting messages [during that time]. The messages are kind of meant to make you feel, ‘Are you really going to rest during these peak hours?’ And that makes you want to do it,” she said.

With the success of All of Us Are Dead, Yoon Chan Young and Lee Yoo Mi would surely have more fruitful careers in the future.
