Alita Battle Angel Director Confirms Joining The Mandalorian Season 2 Roster

It looks like Alita Battle Angel director Robert Rodriguez is joining the roster of filmmakers behind the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Taking to Twitter, the director behind films like From Dusk Till Dawn, El Mariachi, and Spy Kids decided to confirm his participation in the second season of Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars series, revealing that he had directed an episode for the show.

"I am truly humbled to say I have now had the very rare privilege of directing the biggest star in the universe," Rodriguez wrote, sharing a photo of himself together with The Mandalorian's prop for Baby Yoda.

This is exciting news. The filmmaker had been rumored to be part of the roster of episode directors for season two of The Mandalorian beginning February. It looks like we finally have confirmation from Rodriguez himself.

The other directors on the show's second season will include Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed, Star Wars: The Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni, Confirmation director Rick Famuyiwa, and The Mandalorian star Cark Weathers.

There isn't that much news about what Favreau has planned for The Mandalorian's next batch of episodes, but fans are more than excited to see Mando (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda return. The first season of the series left viewers with so many questions – what in the world does Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) want to do with Baby Yoda? Where does Baby Yoda really come from? Will we get to learn more about Baby Yoda's origin in the second season of the series?

Let's wait and see.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian season 1 is streaming on Disney+. The second season is set to premiere sometime later this year.
