Alice In Borderland Season 2 Is Trending Because of Netflix's Squid Game

It has been a long time since we got an update on Alice in Borderland Season 2. Although it has already been confirmed that a second season is coming, there hasn't been any news about the show's return since last December.

So it's no surprise that fans are suddenly freaking out when "Alice in Borderland" started trending on social media. Does this mean Season 2 is finally coming?

Alice in Borderland was released on Netflix in December 2020 and the series immediately had viewers fascinated with the idea of an alternate Tokyo where people are forced to participate in deadly games to survive. The show was such a huge hit that the streaming service renewed it for a second season just two weeks after its premiere.

So is the wait for Alice in Borderland Season 2 finally over? People are freaking out as "Alice in Borderland" suddenly began trending on Twitter and everyone thinks it means there has been an update on the second season.

Interestingly, Alice in Borderland actually started trending as people compared the new Netflix show Squid Game to the Japanese series. Many have pointed out that the premise of the South Korean thriller is a lot like Alice but instead of freedom and survival, the characters are competing for money.

Squid Game follows a group of people competing in a game where the winner gets to take home KRW45.6 billion (approximately US$38.5 million). The contestants compete in traditional children's games with a deadly twist and only one of them will emerge as the winner.

Sure, it sounds like Battle Royale all over again and that's why we're getting comparisons to Alice in Borderland. The truth is, Squid Game is fairly different from Alice but the shows have one thing in common: They make the viewers consider their own decisions if they were put in the same situation.

For now, there haven't been any updates on Alice in Borderland Season 2. While we're waiting, check out Squid Game, which is now streaming on Netflix.
