After years of speculation and rumors, Lucasfilm finally confirmed which actor landed the role of Star Wars Rebels' Ezra Bridger in the upcoming Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson. Eman's casting came as a shock to many as it was previously reported that Mena Massoud was the frontrunner to play the part. Several sources claimed that the live-action Aladdin actor has actually been cast as the beloved Rebels character and he even fueled speculation by dropping a few hints on social media. Well, it turns out that Lucasfilm had a different actor in mind.

However, in a surprising new development, Massoud finally confirmed that he in fact tried out for the role but "never really had a fair shot at it". Taking to Twitter, the 30-year-old actor says he's relieved that the rumors have finally been put to rest and that he hopes Eman's portrayal will be done justice.

Mena definitely had the look and I gotta admit that I was convinced that he had gotten the part. As unfortunate and frustrating as it is for him to not get cast in the series, I'm pretty a new door will open for him in the near future. Who knows? We might end up seeing him in a different franchise in the next few years. Massoud is only in his early 30s and the right project will come knocking on his door.

Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ in 2023.
