Ahsoka Star Reveals What To Expect From Sabine Wren’s Lightsaber Scenes

Ahsoka will not be the first time Sabine Wren wields a lightsaber. In fact, many of her scenes in Star Wars Rebels involved training with Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber in order to master the Darksaber.

Now that Ahsoka has revealed an extended scene of Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren wielding a green lightsaber during the Star Wars Celebration last month, the actress reveals what to expect from her live-action in the upcoming series.

“I’m just really glad that’s out there,” Bordizzo told Empire (via SFF Gazette), “It’s been really hard talking about my fight training without talking about the fact that it’s ‘saber training’, which is literally all I’ve been doing for so long.”

The Sabine Wren actress added, “The Mandalorian [physicality] is very Western, and then the ‘saber style’ is very samurai-influenced.”

“Trying to embody those two things — sometimes one right after the other — in the choreography was super interesting, because they’re such different modes of being. I really had fun with the journey of trying to master both.” Bordizzo shared.

As for what the actress could possibly tease about that would prevent any Ahsoka spoilers:

“It’s just part of her journey. Not just the ‘saber’ itself, but what comes with that and what that means and what mindset it takes to wield that weapon.”

Considering Bordizzo’s version of Sabine is a little older and more mature than her animated counterpart, Bordizzo holds a lot of potential in staying longer in the live-action franchise.

This isn’t the first time the actress has weighed in on training hard for her part. In fact, previously, upon experiencing what she had to go through to play her role, Bordizzo noted:

“If we get [Ahsoka Season 2], I’m training from now [on], the minute it’s announced, that I’ll be like, back in that, I love it.”

All three seasons of The Mandalorian are now streaming on Disney+.

Meanwhile, you can catch Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren in Ahsoka, which arrives on the streamer this coming August.
