The Star Wars universe is maintaining its dominance in streaming and after the last two live-action offerings Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor focused on stories set in different timelines, 2023 will see the franchise's return to the MandoVerse. Apart from The Mandalorian Season 3, two more projects taking place in the post-original trilogy era will hit Disney+ with Skeleton Crew and Ahsoka also set to make their respective premieres.

Speaking of the latter, fans have been dying to get updates about the Rosario Dawson-led show which is also said to serve as the continuation of Star Wars Rebels. Last September, it was announced that up-and-coming actor Eman Esfandi has been cast as Ezra Bridger.

However, details surrounding the actor who will play Grand Admiral Thrawn have remained scarce much to the chagrin of fans. Now, a new scoop sheds light on the matter and pretty much "confirms" what a lot of us have been expecting to see in the series.

According to a new report from Making Star Wars, Ahsoka will indeed see Lars Mikkelsen crossover from the animated universe to live-action as Thrawn. Meanwhile, the report also adds that the show will venture into a new galaxy previously unexplored in Star Wars with the outlet using the terms "New Beyond" or "New Space".

While Mikkelsen's casting as the iconic Star Wars Rebels baddie is of course a no-brainer decision to a lot of fans, Lucasfilm has yet to make things official which is quite baffling, especially taking into account how we already know who plays Ezra Bridger in the show.

Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
