The final episode of Ahsoka ended with Grand Admiral Thrawn returning to the main galaxy and posing a major threat to the New Republic, which is still recovering from the ruling of the Empire a few years before.

The character is now set to be the main villain of the next MandoVerse stories although it remains to be seen when will he make an appearance and how they are going to explore his threatening presence again in the galaxy.

One thing's for sure, he will be facing off the Rebels characters again at some point in the future, especially Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and potentially Zeb, who are all in the main galaxy as well.

In an interview with Empire Magazine for their Review Of The Year 2023, Dave Filoni teased his plans for Grand Admiral Thrawn's future following his return to the main galaxy at the end of Ahsoka.

He explained that the introduction of Captain Pellaeon in The Mandalorian was a set-up as he will eventually interact with Thrawn at some point.

"We set up Captain Pellaeon in The Mandalorian, and that’s a character that goes with Thrawn, so I’d love to see the two of them together," he said.

Filoni also hinted that Thrawn will likely have a rematch with Hera Syndulla as they had a long-standing conflict since the events of Rebels.

He teased, "His foil throughout Rebels was Hera. Pitting the two generals against one another is something that I find interesting."

Lars Mikkelsen also briefly opened up about what his character has in store in the future. "Straighten out all the others and tidy up the shop. I could imagine something in terms of a power play within the Empire," he said.

So far, Lucasfilm has still not announced a second season of Ahsoka, but it is clear that Filoni has a lot of plans for the characters which suggests that it is very likely to happen unless he decides to explore their next storylines instead in another series or the MandoVerse movie.

Aside from Thrawn's incoming threatening presence in the New Republic, the potential second season will also deal with bringing back Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Huyang to the main galaxy and join their friends in their fight against Thrawn.

Hopefully, we will be able to hear exciting news regarding the show's future very soon.

The first season of Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney+.
