After an emotional finale from season 5, Marvel has just released a new look at Agents of SHIELD season 6. There's a lot to like here, from the usual amount of super-powered battles to the characters who are given time to grieve. It's a dark time for the Agents, especially after the recent death of fan-favorite character Phil Coulson, who was basically everyone's favorite character.
Turns out that he might not be dead after all.
During the opening seconds of this trailer, we briefly see Coulson lecturing about SHIELD, though that ends up being a hologram. However, by the end, we see Coulson re-emerge somewhere, with the voiceover claiming that Coulson has never heard of SHIELD, which should add to the intrigue.
How this version ends up meeting the Agents isn't known yet, though it appears that he might be a villain in this season. Granted, this is all just speculation based on the trailer but anything is possible, right? This will definitely add to the drama this season, which should make for some fun character interactions.
Why Coulson would be brought back after an emotional death is confusing to some but the series is based on a comic book. Death is incredibly common in superhero comics, as is resurrection, so this isn't anything new to comic book fans.
Agents of SHIELD season 6 returns this summer.
