Adolescence Season 2: Will the Story Continue?

Adolescence

Adolescence may be billed as a limited crime drama series, but it appears the show could return for a second season if a tease from lead star and co-creator Stephen Graham is anything to go by.

The hit Netflix series didn’t just take the world by storm when it premiered on the streamer in March 2025’; it also earned widespread critical acclaim and swept the 2026 Golden Globe nominations with 13 nods.

The series won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, in addition to acting wins for Lead Actor Graham, Supporting Actor Owen Cooper, and Supporting Actress Erin Doherty.

With this level of success, could Jamie Miller’s (Cooper) story continue?

It looks like that Jamie’s story may not be over just yet, as Adolescence Season 2 could still happen. While the show is widely believed to be a standalone season, Graham has hinted that it might eventually return.

“I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,” he told Deadline after winning the Golden Globe for Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology, or TV Movie.

This isn’t the first time a new season has been teased, though. In April 2025, Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner also told the publication that they were in talks with director Philip Barantini about the show’s “next iteration” and were considering how they could “widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA, and not be repetitive.”

Graham also told Variety that there was still “the possibility of developing another story,” while Amelie Pease, who plays Jamie’s sister Lisa, said in an interview with Cosmopolitan UK that she “wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up going for a second season.”

What Could Adolescence Season 2 Be About?

Adolescence only featured four episodes, so many questions remain unanswered, including how Katie’s (Emilia Holiday) parents felt, what happened to Jamie’s friend Ryan (Kaine Davis), and the details of Jamie’s sentence.

If Season 2 happens, these questions could finally be addressed. A new set of episodes might focus on the point of view of Katie’s family, after the first season primarily followed Jamie and his father, Eddie Miller.

It could also take the form of an anthology season with a new story. Instead of continuing Jamie’s narrative, a new installment could feature a fresh set of characters, a new case, and a new social issue, while maintaining the same intense, real-time storytelling style.

The story could revolve around a different teenage suspect or victim, another family facing a crisis involving a young member, or a crime influenced by social media, peer pressure, or online subcultures.

It could also explore other social issues affecting youth, such as cyberbullying and online harassment, mental health crises and untreated trauma, youth extremism or conspiracy culture, and sexual exploitation or coercion online.

With that said, there are still many possibilities for Adolescence Season 2 to happen.
