Kylo Ren's fate in The Rise of Skywalker definitely got Star Wars fans surprised. Especially after that scene, it seems like the character's future is already written. Add the fact that the Skywalker Saga has already been concluded, would it be possible for Adam Driver to return to the franchise in the near future?
This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
In a recent interview with French magazine Le Matin (per Twitter user @AdamDriverFiles), Driver talked about returning as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars universe. "This is not at all on the agenda," he said. The actor said the experience will "forever remain" as one of the "highlights" of his career, but he admitted that he "aspires" to other adventures.
Ben Solo's death is certainly one of the most shocking scenes in the movie, especially since fans were very much in the hopes to see more of what the character has to offer with his turn to the Light Side. After seeing the character smile for the first time, it seemed like he'd be given another chance, but his fate has already been written.
And although Driver would want to tackle other characters, fans think the actor does deserve a break from Star Wars. If anything, the audience really liked Driver's performance all throughout the sequel trilogy and did justice to the character.
For now, there is a Star Wars film set for 22, as well as movies from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Unfortunately, it is likely that Driver won't be returning to the Star Wars franchise anytime soon, but you could still catch him in Episode IX and really process all those scenes, especially Ben Solo's epic battle scene with the Knights of Ren.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now showing in theaters.
