Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce Star in First Trailer for Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

Director Terry Gilliam had spent years (and millions) trying to make The Man Who Killed Don Quixote into a film, and now we have the first trailer for what it a long overdue passion project.

Here's the official synopsis:

An advertising executive jumps back and forth in time between 21st century London and 17th century La Mancha, where Don Quixote mistakes him for Sancho Panza.

We all know from Star Wars that Adam Driver is a fine actor, but it's so interesting to see Jonathan Pryce play a role that's so lively and cartoonish as Don Quixote. You also have to love the fantastic production design that we're seeing in the trailer—as expected from a Terry Gilliam film.

Back in 2000, Gilliam had started production on this movie, but the set was so overrun with misfortune that it took 16 years for Gilliam to get it back off the ground. The behind-the-scenes drama got so bad that it even merited its own documentary called Lost in La Mancha.

Back then, the movie was set to star Jean Rochefort and Johnny Depp; now we have the duo of Adam Driver and Jonathan Pryce, which actually looks like a fun tandem.

No specific release date has been announced, but The Man Who Killed Don Quixote is aiming for a release this year.
