South Korean actress Kang Soo Yeon will be seen again in her final movie, Jung_E, which she recorded before her death.

Kang Soo Yeon earned the nickname Korea’s first world star because of her early shows and films when she started her career as a child actress. She also scored the lead role on Netflix’s Jung_E, but the actress died before the film was scheduled to debut.

A few months after she passed away, the streaming giant confirmed the release of Kang Soo Yeon’s final movie.

Netflix Confirms Release Date of Kang Soo Yeon’s Final Movie, Jung_E

Months after Kang Soo Yeon’s death, Netflix confirmed that her last film would finally arrive on the platform.

According to the streaming giant, as reported by The Korea Times, Jung_E will mark its debut on Jan. 20. Set in the post-apocalyptic 22nd century, the upcoming movie explores the life of a researcher working at Kranoid Lab.

Kang Soo Yeon played the role of Seo Hyun, the team leader of the lab’s brain cloning team. She and her assistants clone the brain of Jung_E, an elite soldier, to create a combat AI warrior to end a civil war. The late actress’s character does all the testing of the soldier’s brain.

Kim Hyun Joo and Ryu Kyung Soo worked with her on her final film. Kim Hyun Joo plays Jung_E role, while the actor takes on Sang Hun’s role.

Director Yeon Sang Ho, the brain behind the hit Korean films Train to Busan, Peninsula, and Hellbound, helms Jung_E.

Kang Soo Yeon Dead at 55

The release of the film will come months after Kang Soo Yeon died in Gangnam Severance Hospital following a heart attack at her home in Apgujeong, Gangnam, Seoul. According to Yonhap News Agency, her family found her unresponsive inside her home, prompting them to call the 119 emergency hotline to seek help.

The responders arrived at 5:48 p.m. at that time and gave her CPR. They successfully regained her consciousness through CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) before transporting her to the hospital.

However, the actress did not make it as she suffered from intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) following the attack.
