It may be an American animated movie, but Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is basically an anime in the new Japanese dub trailer, which was released earlier today.

As with the first Spider-Verse movie, the sequel will get a Japanese dub to release alongside English language screenings (with Japanese subtitles) in Japan when it comes to theaters this June.

Of course, its look is far from popular 3DCG anime works as it’s more comic-inspired.

But the Japanese dub has a strong anime vibe as it features several popular anime voice actors.

While the new trailer for Spider-Verse was released worldwide two weeks ago, it was only available first in the original English language version that features the voices of Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jake Johnson.

Now though, to promote the film in Japan, Sony Pictures shared the Japanese language trailer for the movie, and it’s something that anime fans should watch as it features several well-known voices.

In Japan, American movies (whether live-action or animation) are typically released with both English subtitles and Japanese dub options.

Many of these dubs employ voice actors from the anime industry, as was the case with Into the Spider-Verse.

This dual-language release strategy is similar to how anime films are released in US cinemas.

For instance, Makoto Shinkai's Suzume is available in US theaters now in both the original Japanese and English dubbed versions.
