There is little doubt that fans are already excited about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) since the first teaser was released late last year. Now a new image from the highly anticipated animated sequel has just been revealed and it hypes up a possible showdown between Spider-Man 2099 and Miles Morales!
Back in early December, the first look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) gave us a sneak peek at what to look forward to in the sequel. At first, it looked like Miles Morales was going to spend some time with Gwen Stacy but things quickly changed as he ended up in a different universe where he is immediately chased by Spider-Man 2099.
Interestingly, that encounter might be a major plot point in Spider-Verse 2. The new image from the animated movie that was shared by USA Today features Spider-Man 2099 grabbing onto Miles' ankle as the latter tries to swing away. Check it out below.
The still isn't exactly a huge surprise anymore since we know that Spider-Man 2099 will show up in Spider-Verse 2. In addition to that, the teaser already confirmed that Miguel O'Hara is chasing down Miles Morales as soon as he found the other Spider-Man in his universe. But could this also mean that Spider-Man 2099 is trying to harm Miles? Hopefully, we'll learn more about the new film soon.
The premise of Across the Spider-Verse 2 is still a mystery but there is little doubt we'll see Miles swinging into different universes and meeting more Spider-People. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will bring back Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jake Johnson. Oscar Isaac will reprise his role as Spider-Man 2099 in the sequel and Issa Rae is set to join the cast as Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman. The sequel is scheduled for release on October 7, 2022.
