Netflix has released the official trailer for Tiger King 2, the sequel to the streamer's 2020 hit documentary focusing on the rivalry between big cat enthusiasts Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin. Tiger King 2 was originally announced by a Netflix in September 2021 with a teaser featuring familiar faces from the show's first season.
Tiger King Season 1 premiered on Netflix in March 2020 when many viewers were stuck at home amid COVID-19 lockdowns. The docuseries turned out to be a huge success as it told the story of Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic, The Tiger King through real-life footage of the zoo compound where Joe lived and worked, and interviews of people involved. Tiger King also explored the wildlife trafficking issue in the US .

Meanwhile, Joe's rival Carole Basking has distanced herself from Tiger King 2 following the announcement that it was in the works.
Basking, who featured prominently in the show's first season with her organization Big Cat Resue, said in a statement: “I don’t know how they put out a Tiger King 2 when Joe Schreibvogel’s [aka Joe Exotic] in jail and I’m refusing to be played again.
“Rebecca Chaiklin [co-director of Tiger King] said she wanted to ‘clear the air’ about what they did to me in Tiger King. I told her to lose my number. There is no explanation for such a betrayal and false portrayal.”

The synopsis for Tiger King 2 reads:
“With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his disreputable zoo, the Emmy-nominated saga continues its twisted course with Tiger King 2 as newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America’s most notorious big cat owners.
“Old enemies and frenemies, including Jeff Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson return for another season of murder, mayhem, and madness. Thought you knew the whole story? Just you wait.”
Tiger King 2 will be released on Netflix globally on November 17.
