The Story of Marvel Studios Book Confirms Agent Carter is Canon, Author Says Agents of SHIELD is Not


A book was recently released titled The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it contains almost all things that form part of the MCU and what happens behind the scenes. It confirms Agent Carter being a canon show, however, when the author of the book was asked whether Agents of SHIELD share the same treatment, unfortunately, it is not.

The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has everything on how Marvel Studios successfully made the whole MCU leading to the translation of the Infinity Saga on screen, with years of dedication, preparation, and hard work, it all came into fruition and paid off as it became one of the largest fandoms in the whole world.

Written by Tara Bennet and Paul Terry, the book encompasses the whole history of the production of all 23 movies leading to the culmination of everything in Avengers: Endgame.

In the book, Agent Carter is confirmed to be canon, it has been described, “Launched on January 6, the series debuted on the ABC midseason slate. Notably, Agent Carter marked the first time an MCU-originated character would transition from the big screen to the small screen, with canon storytelling that would eventually dovetail back into future films.”

Agent Carter is a two-season series focusing on Peggy Carter in the early days of SHIELD, being a badass woman in the late 40s at a time when women were thought to be lesser than men. In a male dominated industry, she proved to be an important asset of the organization and her guts and wits are beyond any other agent.

However, when fans took it on Twitter to ask whether Agents of SHIELD is canon, Bennet personally answered, “We wrote the book. It does not say AoS is part of the MCU.” Bennet added, “Agent Carter is different from AoS.”

Agents of SHIELD has a total of seven seasons. It all started with Phil Coulson and his return from death as he was resurrected by some kind of alien blood later revealed in the series to be Kree. The series touched various comic book arcs such as the Inhumans, Ghost Rider, life model decoys, Kree invasion, space travel, and finally, time travel.
