4MINUTE Nam Ji Hyun, who has since changed her name to Son Ji Hyun, said that she is now in a happier place following the girl group’s disbandment.

The Cube Entertainment girl group, which debuted in 2009, immediately garnered a huge female fan base due to the girl crush image the members established. However, their skyrocketing fame was cut short when a representative from Cube entertainment revealed that all members of the group, except HyunA, decided not to renew their contracts.

All of them then began to try their luck in different industries, with Nam Ji Hyun focusing on her acting career.

4MINUTE Nam Ji Hyun Says She is Happier Now

In a new interview, Nam Ji Hyun took her time to look back on the days she served as the leader and member of 4MINUTE. Per the idol-turned actress, she felt a lot better when she decided not to continue with the band.

"I was too young then, so I prefer how things are now. I feel like I wasn't able to relate to the feelings of others very well at that time. I was immature. As I aged, I understood others better, and I've become more realistic than before. I still find it hard when I have to overcome difficulties though,” she said, as quoted by SBS News.

Still, she clarified that she remains good friends with the other 4MINUTE members. Per the idol, she often meets them and feels like she is with her old school friends.

Nam Ji Hyun noted how they would spend time talking a lot about the past. Although they are no longer promoting as a group, 4MINUTE members remain supportive of each other.

Nam Ji Hyun Still Has Passion For Singing, Dancing

She and 4MINUTE released music for the last time in January 2016. After dropping their album at that time, Nam Ji Hyun started focusing on acting instead.

Despite that, she reportedly still loves to sing and dance. But she also clarified that she no longer has plans to go back to the K-pop industry.

"Sometimes, I would go to a singing room by myself to release that energy in me. I try writing lyrics at home too. As I write lyrics, I often think to myself, 'Why didn't I try this when I was 4MINUTE?' But I don't think I can go back to the industry, because there are too many great hoobae K-pop stars out there now. Watching their performances give me enough satisfying feelings anyway, so it's all good," she continued.

Nam Ji Hyun will soon appear in the upcoming SBS series, Why Her?
