Avid anime fans might have noticed that there are shows that have two characters who work so well together. Sometimes, when the other is present, the other one is obviously present too. A cannot be without B. There are also cases when these two people or characters are considered as one entity with their strong and unbreakable bond. 

There are different kinds of duos, it can be a couple, best friends, mortal enemies, and siblings. No matter what kind of relationship they originally have, as long as there is a connection unlike any other, it can be considered as a duo. Who are the best anime duos? 

  1. Gon and Killua from Hunter x Hunter

    Gon and Killua have a strong friendship that can make fans wish they have someone like that. Despite coming from two different worlds and having two unique personalities, Killua and Gon proved themselves to care and be for each other no matter what happens. The change is mostly seen on Killua’s part but we cannot deny that Killua became better because of Gon’s determined, innocent, and bubbly personality. 

     

  2. Ash and Pikachu from Pokemon

    Ash and Pikachu’s relationship was rather unexpected. Pikachu was Ash’s first Pokemon and since then, they have been inseparable. Their friendship has been tested through literal battles and tons of exciting adventures. At first, Pikachu was hesitant to tag along with Ash, but he saw his trainer’s dedication and big heart that cares about others. 

  3. Light and L from Death Note

    As mentioned, there are different types of relationships in every duo. One best example is L and Light’s. The duo has a rather peculiar relationship and some might even consider it controversial but these two are some of the iconic duos in anime. They both fight for the same thing, are geniuses, and have strong personalities, making them a great duo. 

  4. Gohan and Piccolo from Dragon Ball

    Piccolo and Gohan are the popular duos that shows a great father-son relationship. Their unbreakable bond started after Goku, Gohan’s father, was killed by Raditz (this happened at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z). Piccolo then decided to take Gohan and trained him. The development of their relationship was then seen in the series. 

     

  5. Mustang and Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist

    Some characters like Mustang and Hawkeye might have distinct personalities that would make viewers think they are not a good match but as the series progressed, fans will realize that these two characters actually have a lot in common. They are strong and fierce. Make them a duo, and they will be unstoppable. With their distinct personalities, they might have trouble communicating their feelings, but because of their strong bond, they knew how to approach each other. 

  6. Naruto and Sasuke from Naruto

    Naruto and Sasuke started as mortal enemies but their bond made them the best of friends. Through the challenges they faced together, their bond grew and became so strong that Naruto never gave up on Sasuke no matter what the latter did or say to him. They have been friends for so long that they already know each other’s techniques and fighting styles.  

  7. Kageyama and Hinata from Haikyuu!!

    Another mortal enemy to the best friend duo is Hinata and Kageyama. Although they did not like each other from the start, it was obvious that with their skills, they would be a powerful duo. Their love for volleyball made them a great team (and their stubbornness unlike any other). Throughout the series, their bond developed, and they eventually became best friends. 

  8. Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online

    A good example of a couple that has a good partnership. They did not start as a couple but their foundation started with respect to their competency and abilities. Fans might also notice that they have their own approach to the game but if fans would analyze it, their methods actually complement each other. As partners, they work well as Kirito has a deeper understanding of the game while Asuna is determined to finish it. 

  9. Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball

    No one might have suspected that these two will be a duo considering that they have complicated histories but their past made them have each other’s back no matter what happens. Their love-hate relationship and rivalry made them want to beat one another but these are great motivations for them to work hard. 

  10. Natsu and Happy from Fairytail

    Happy doesn’t remember that he and the Exceeds were tasked to destroy the Dragon Slayers. With that, he and Natsu had a great bond and became best friends. They grew up together and were inseparable. They would never leave each other sides because if they did, one would end up in trouble. 

     

  11. Saitama and Genos from One Punch Man

    The interesting thing about Saitama is that even if he doesn’t need help in fighting villains, he likes to be around other heroes. That personality led him close to his disciple, Genos. Genos is a demon cyborg that is powerful like Saitama. They understand and appreciate each other’s abilities which makes them a great tandem. 

  12. Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell from Cells at Work

    It is common knowledge that red blood cells cannot work without white blood cells, giving fans of the series the idea that these two will be a great duo. But the anime showed that their relationship is more than that. Both have a great bond that is more than work. A powerful link connects them that started from when they were young, making them great partners.
