What Is 100 Girlfriends About?

Rentarou Aijou persisted in his pursuit, asking out multiple girls, only to face relentless rejection each time.

Frustrated and desperate, he seeks divine intervention, only to be informed by a god that his string of rejections was a result of a cosmic mishap.

Now, this god plans to rectify the situation by ensuring Rentarou goes on a whopping 100 dates.

As is often the case with divine interventions, there's a catch: these 100 dates are predestined to be Rentarou's soulmates.

If he doesn't reciprocate their affections each time, they'll meet gruesome ends in accidents.

True to the prophecy, the girls start confessing their love to Rentarou in droves, leaving him in a quandary.

He has no desire to bring harm to anyone. Each time he gazes upon a potential soulmate, it's as if lightning strikes him.

What Is Girlfriend, Girlfriend About?

Now onto Girlfriend, Girlfriend. The series follows Naoya, who has recently started dating a beautiful girl named Saki Saki.

Despite their fiery dynamic that often sets them against each other, their love for each other is nothing short of intense.

Swearing his loyalty, Naoya faces an unexpected situation when a charming girl named Nagisa confesses her feelings to him. To sweeten the deal, Nagisa even prepared lunch for him.

Caught in an unusual situation, he struggles with the desire to explore this new connection without breaking Saki’s heart.

In a bold move, he decides to seek Saki’s approval to pursue both relationships simultaneously.

So, Which Is the Better Harem Anime: 100 Girlfriends or Girlfriend, Girlfriend?

In my humble opinion, there is no comparison between 100 Girlfriends and Girlfriend, Girlfriend.

100 Girlfriends is miles ahead of Girlfriend, Girlfriend in the harem genre because of its ridiculous storyline, which is spectacularly written by Rikito Nakamura.

Polyamorous relationships serve as the cornerstone of a harem anime, yet 100 Girlfriends pushes the boundaries by presenting 100 soulmates for a single boy.

What's more, there's a compelling twist: he's unable to terminate any relationship due to an ominous and potentially fatal clause.

On paper, the plot of 100 Girlfriends is absurd, but due to clever writing and amazing characters, the anime is turning out to be a harem masterpiece.

On top of all this, I feel Nakamura constantly parodies the various harem tropes and breaks the fourth wall.

For instance, in the beginning, Rentarou continuously echoes the words of god.

Consequently, god grows irate as this repetition consumes precious manga panels, leaving a ton of other elements yet to be illustrated for the opening chapter.

Rentarou is living his best life, which feels like a dream for him, but I am sure having 100 soulmates is quite overwhelming.

So, here’s our verdict: 100 Girlfriend is the clear winner! What do you think?
