Superman to Join First 2 Episodes of Supergirl Season 2

Superman/Clark Kent will finally be joining his cousin, Kara Zor-El in Supergirl Season 2. There remains no other details about the role, but we do know that Clark will be visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City, so it would seem that there is no imminent danger that Kara or National City needs help with.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said (via Entertainment Weekly):

Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world ofSupergirl.
Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!

The show's producers have already stressed how the show will be about the story of Supergirl, but they didn't close the doors to the Man of Steel making his appearance in the series.

It's worth noting how Superman's presence has been teased already in previous episodes, with Kara and Kal communicating online. Superman previously appeared as a child while Kara struggled with the Black Mercy. His boots were also shown during season 1's final episodes. The character is obviously being established in the series bit by bit, and fans could see more of Superman other than the first two episodes of the second season.

This news comes at the heels of the announcement of Supergirl moving from CBS to The CW. Aside from Superman's appearance, another exciting event for the show is the epic crossover between Arrow,The Flash,Legends of TomorrowandSupergirl on The CW.

Supergirl airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
