Marvel Will Expand MCU to the Cosmos After Avengers: Infinity War

When Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige hinted that the studio may deviate from the way it organizes movies based on phases, the future of the Marvel Grand Plan suddenly became a little hazy.

Between contracts nearing their expiration dates for the original Avengers lineup and new movies and characters being introduced, we're all suddenly unsure of how the studio will proceed with its future movies.

From the looks of it, fans may need not worry, because Feige and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn have already started looking at the future of Marvel. And if the upcoming movies are any indication, it's already headed way beyond Earth.

Fandango caught up with Feige, who was both tight-lipped and coy about giving clues to the future of MCU. He did have a nice hint, particularly one that pointed to a "new age" that will come once the Avengers: Infinity War films are over:

"I think things are going to look very different at that point, but I think the early discussions we've had with James [Gunn] about Vol. 3 and beyond with what we'll call the ‘Cosmic Universe' and the Guardian characters is very exciting. Which is why he signed up and we announced that even before Guardians Vol. 2 came out."

Feige is already hinting that this new shift in perspective has already started with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We already know that there are five post-credits scenes to catch, and those contain clues to where the franchise is headed.

The source even teased that we might be seeing another character for the Guardians franchise, which could further solidify the direction that the movie will take. We'll have to wait and see what this is all about though.

Synopsis:
