Star Wars Rebels final episodes are scheduled to air next week, and Disney’s busy teasing fans the last few adventures to come for Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, Hera, Zeb, and Chopper in Lucasfilm’s popular animated series.

Premiering a new clip taken from Star Wars Rebels’ second half of season 4 on ABC News, series creator Dave Filoni tells fans that they’ll have to brace themselves for some heartache in the last few episodes of the season.

In the preview shown on ABC, fans get to see Kanan instructing Ezra to take over the mission to rescue Hera. The Ghost crew pilot was captured by Imperial forces during the mid-season finale of Rebels and Kana cares too much about his lover and knows that his feelings might cloud his judgement. So instead of leading the mission, Kanan decides to pass on the baton to his padawan, Ezra.

"This is a big decision moment," Filoni said on the show. "Kanan is smart enough to know that his emotions around her could actually cloud his judgment and what he would choose to do… It is a nice transference moment. There’s always this thing where you have a student, and they’re becoming more and more adept than the master."

According to Filoni, Kanan cares too much about Hera to let his feelings cloud and jeopardize the mission to rescue her, so he passes leadership on to Ezra instead, “a nod (from Kanan) to say, ‘I trust you with this.’” But will Kanan make it out alive?

"There’s only a small group of people that actually know the entire ending of the series," the Rebels showrunner revealed. "I have all their names written down in my office. I know exactly who knows what. It’s my best attempt to keep all of this from getting out."

It’s going to be an exciting week for Rebels fan. We hope that everyone in the Ghost team lives to fight another battle when the series finally comes to an end.

Star Wars Rebels returns to Disney XD for its final run on Monday, February 19.
