Adam Driver Reportedly Isn’t Attached to Lucasfilm’s New Ben Solo Project

Earlier this week, word came out that Lucasfilm was planning on developing a brand new Star Wars project focused on Kylo Ren. The leak came as quite a surprise to the Star Wars fanbase. Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's completed its theatrical release, the Skywalker saga's officially come to an end.

So, why would Lucasfilm want to build a brand new Star Wars project around Kylo Ren when the wayward son of Han Solo and Leia gave up his life towards the end of Episode IX? Star Wars fans who've been reading the tie-in materials to the sequels know that Ben Solo has a pretty rich backstory, and according to Kessel Run Transmissions writer Corey Van Dyke, Lucasfilm may be interested in exploring Kylo Ren's story before Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Taking to Twitter, Van Dyke discusses details about the rumored Star Wars project.

"We've heard Ben Solo is a character Lucasfilm wants to further develop. We don't know if this is a series or movie, but it's definitely being worked on. We also don't know if this is pre TFA or post-TROS, but if I were to guess I'd say pre TFA. Again, this is in early development," the writer reveals in his post.

While this may not come as a complete surprise, Van Dyke continues his Twitter thread to reveal that Kessel Run Transmissions has not heard anything about Adam Driver being attached to this Ben Solo Star Wars project. This could mean a few things – Lucasfilm may have to sort out another contract with Driver, or perhaps the new project could feature a young Ben Solo instead. Or perhaps the project is going to end up being an animated series.

It's hard to imagine a Kylo Ren project without Driver though.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available for streaming on Disney+.
