These Gamers Found and Rescued Real Abandoned Animals While Playing Pokemon Go

Two gamers rescued some abandoned animals thanks to Pokemon Go, ComicBook reports. Sara Perez and Matthew Teague were hitting the pavement of South Houston, Texas, to catch Pokemon. But instead they found an abandoned cage that contained 20 hamsters and 7 mice.

The critters had no food and water and the Texas heat would have finished them off quickly. Teague and Perez quickly took the rodents home and provided them with food, water and petting until they recovered. All 27 animals were saved!

Teague and Perez contacted the Houston chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals. There was no news of the former owners of the animals, so Teague and Perez chose to name them all after Pokemon. The critters include Pikachu, Raichu, Mew, Articuno and Zapdos. The animals have been handed over to the SPCA and are up for adoption.
