The Blade Runner Sequel Will Be Filmed by One of the Greatest Cinematographers of All Time

Ridley Scott's 1982 Cyberpunk film Blade Runner was one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, and I'm glad that it's getting a sequel. Although it was announced that Ridley Scott will no longer be directing the sequel, we know that he'll still be a producer, and that Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve will helm the film. I'm also glad to hear that of the greatest cinematographers of all time is also joining him to create the sequel.

Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins has been hired to shoot the untitled Blade Runner sequel for Denis Villeneuve, marking the third collaboration between the two filmmakers (they also worked on Prisoners and Sicario, which just premiered at the Cannes Film).

Deakins' credits is impressive; he received his latest Academy Award nomination this year on his work on Angelina Jolie's Unbroken. He's also behind brilliant films like True Grit,The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, The Village, No Country For Old Men, The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, and Skyfall.

The Blade Runner sequel doesn't start shooting until the summer of 2016 so we'll probably have to wait a couple more years before we see how it comes together. For now, you can check out Deakins' IMDB page to find out the films he worked on. Are you excited to see the Blade Runner sequel?
