Star Trek: Discovery is Set Before The Original Star Trek

CBS' new series Star Trek: Discovery is set before the original Star Trek series, Ain't It Cool News points out. The hint is apparently is seen on the ship revealed in the Star Trek: Discovery teaser at San Diego Comic-Con last month when executive producer announced the title of the new show.

"There's a big clue in the number of the ship [NCC-1031] that indicates when we're set,"

The Enterprise's original number was NCC-1701, so it's safe to assume that the new series will take place way before Kirk and Spock's adventures. We still don't know how far it's set from that period, but we might get more hints on August 10. Fuller said that he's going to "spoiler it up" during the "Star Trek" panel on that penultimate dayat the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS All Access in January 2017.
