Original Hellboy Actress Selma Blair Heartbroken Over the Reboot

Like it or not, Hellboy is getting an R-rated reboot and Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro won't have anything to do with it. While some people definitely have mixed feelings about the franchise's direction, actress Selma Blair (Liz Sherman) opens up about her feelings toward the reboot.

Talking to Cinemablend, Blair explains:

"God, you know, people are fans of Hellboy and also fans of Guillermo. So part of us, the ones that were so loyal to Guillermo, our hearts are broken that it didn't work out with the greatest third installment ever written that I wish I could play more than anything in the world. But I truly hope that Mike Mignola has his vision out there for the darker Hellboy come to light, and I'm sure he will, and David Harbour is excellent and everyone involved, but no my heart is broken."

It was said that del Toro was given the option to make a third movie at some point, but for some reason, things didn't work out, and the studio opted to just reboot the character. Though del Toro isn't involved, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is involved with the remake, and so far, David Harbour looks like a fine Hellboy.

With the last Hellboy movie ending with Liz pregnant with twins, I'm curious on how they planned to move the story from that point. I'm just wishing we get some kind of comic or script treatment so we as fans can get some closure with the del Toro version of the character.

The Hellboy reboot is set to come out Jan. 11, 2019.
