The Matrix 4 Brings in John Wick Director to Choreograph Fight Scenes

It looks like Keanu Reeves will be reunited with John Wick director Chad Stahelski for a completely different project. It has just been confirmed that Stahelski will be working on choreographing the fight sequences in The Matrix 4.

Stahelski recently spoke to Collider where he confirmed that he and David Leitch will be working in coordinating the action sequences in the fourth Matrix film. "It's more about the creative concept of some of the choreography and backing them up with stuff," he said.

Interestingly, Stahelski also pointed out that director Lana Wachowski will be involved since they are preparing for a very specific kind of action sequence.

"Other than the Matrixes, most of their stuff…what makes [Lana] so great is she directs her own action. We've had second unit directors on some of the Matrixes just because of the logistics involved. But of late, and especially on Matrix 4, she's directing her own action," he stated.

Interestingly, Stahelski revealed why Wachowski is so different from other filmmakers they have worked with.

"The second units for them are mostly establishing shots, the B-sides of the some of the compositions for some locations. But Lana, she does her own action. She weaves it into the main unit stuff, which is why their stuff looks so good," he said.

This is definitely exciting news considering that the John Wick films are already known for their intense action sequences. With Stahelski and Leitch involved with the fourth Matrix film, fans can look forward to an action-packed sequel.

The Matrix 4 is scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.
