It looks like Spider-Man 3 has been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak after all. Sony and Marvel Studios have just announced that the highly-anticipated sequel will be getting a later release date in 2021. Sadly, the change has also pushed the long-delayed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to a 2022 release.

Deadline reports that the still-untitled Spider-Man 3 will be moved to a November 5, 2021 premiere. The film was initially scheduled for release on July 16, 2021 but it is believed that the studios agreed they will need more time to work on the production of the sequel.

If the new release date sounds familiar, that's because Doctor Strange 2 was originally set to premiere on that day. However, Marvel Studios has decided to move the second Doctor Strange flick to March 25, 2022.

This is sad news for fans who were hoping to see both movies much earlier next year. Nevertheless, it seems like the right move considering that several film productions are currently delayed due to COVID-19. On the other hand, this should give the studios more time to work on the highly-anticipated sequels.

Spider-Man 3 will bring back Tom Holland as Peter Parker, who now faces a major dilemma as his secret identity has been exposed in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film will premiere on November 5, 2021. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be directed by Sam Raimi and is now scheduled for release on March 25, 2022.
