New Japanese PM Promises Higher Wages for Anime and Manga Employees Because of Demon Slayer

There is little doubt that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has a huge influence over the Japanese people. It's so huge that even the new Prime Minister of Japan is promising to raise the wages of people working in the manga and anime industry. All because of his love for the Koyoharu Gotouge manga.

Fumio Kishida won the LDP Presidential Election in Japan just recently and is set to be the next Prime Minister of Japan. Kishida might be in politics but he is a huge fan of the arts as well.

In an interview shared by Yahoo! Japan, Kishida was asked if he was one of the 11 million people who tuned in to watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie - Mugen Train on its TV debut. Interestingly, Kishida revealed that he hasn't seen the film but his favorite character from the manga is in it.

"I haven't watched TV, but I've read through all the volumes of Demon Slayer: Kimentsu No Yaiba. My favorite character is Akaza," Kishida said.

It's an unusual choice but Demon Slayer fans are loving the fact that Kishida is just like them. In fact, his goal as the next Japanese Prime Minister is to help improve the lives of mangakas and animators.

"I will also work to raise the income of people involved in the Japanese 'soft power' industry such as manga, anime, and movies," Kishida said.

Now that's a cause we are all willing to support. Needless to say, fans are hoping Kishida will find time in his busy schedule to watch Mugen Train and the upcoming Demon Slayer Season 2.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 will premiere on October 10.
