Avengers: Endgame Star Robert Downey Jr Says MCU Film Will Defeat Avatar

The highly anticipated re-release of Avengers: Endgame is certainly an exciting idea especially since the new cut will include some never-before-seen footage. However, there's another reason why Robert Downey Jr. is looking forward to the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick's return to the theaters. The Avengers: Infinity War star clearly wants Endgame to defeat Avatar in the box office.

Downey recently shared a new post on his Instagram account celebrating the re-release of Endgame. However, his caption hints at the Sherlock Holmes 3 star's competitive side.

"Suit up, show up, records gonna blow up !!!" Downey wrote. He also added the hashtags #Endgame, #Rerelease, and #today.

There is little doubt that Downey is referring to Avatar, which is currently the highest grossing film of all time. The re-release of Endgame is certainly a smart way for Disney to break the James Cameron movie's record. Will Endgame emerge victoriously and defeat Avatar? We'll find out after this weekend.

The first TV spot for the Endgame re-release has already confirmed that the new cut will feature new content after the credits. Although it is unclear if this means the movie is getting a post-credits sequence, fans are already wondering if it would connect Endgame to the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. On the other hand, there is also the possibility that the new scene will introduce the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in theaters again around the world.
