Stranger Things Co-Creator Matt Duffer Knows How the Series is Ending

Fans have been on quite the journey with Stranger Things, bringing us lovable characters and stories clearly inspired by a number of ‘80s movies and Stephen King stories. People fell in love with this show, which managed to keep that old school PG balance of creepy stuff and goofy, kid antics. It's not yet known if Stranger Things Season 4 will be the final season or just another one for Netflix to trot out but co-creator Matt Duffer has revealed that he already knows how it will end.

Speaking with Deadline, Duffer revealed that Netflix wanted a proper mythology bible for the series before season 1 premiered, which allowed Matt and his brother to properly outline this series. Obviously, some changes will be made here and there but it seems like they've followed what has been built thus far, which should mean that the ending will feel natural. Hopefully.

"We like to look at each season as kind of its own complete story. We do have a pretty large mythology. I think when we were developing Season 1, and to Netflix's credit, they sort of pressured us to make sure we had this mythology really hammered out. We had like a 25-page sort of Stranger Things mythology that only maybe a small handful of people have seen. So season by season, we're kind of turning the page and revealing a little bit more and more. So we do have a general sense of where we're going. We've known the ending of the show for quite a while."

Considering everything that Eleven and her friends have been through, it's kind of hard to imagine a proper ending right now. Hopper isn't dead, which is nice but they could always end up killing him during the fourth season, though that's just me being a cynic. Right now, it seems like only the Duffer Bros know how Stranger Things will end and we can't wait to see what they have planned.

Stranger Things Season 4 does not have a release date, as of this writing.
