Number of Pokemon to Appear in Detective Pikachu Revealed

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is one of the most anticipated movies coming out this year and it's two months away. It wasn't that long ago when many of us were dreading to see the film, so it's quite surprising to see many change their minds on it after the first trailer. While the actual quality of the movie remains suspect, there's no denying that the highlights we've seen thus far have been the actual Pokemon.

Fans were curious as to how many Pokemon will be appearing in the movie. We've already seen Kanto favorites like Psyduck, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Mewtwo, and the title character who needs no introduction (Pika Pika). Well, thanks to an article from Pokemon.com, we now know that there will be 60+ Pokemon in the movie.

That might sound like a disappointing number to some but when you consider how details and expressive they are, 60+ is actually a lot. The games might have more than a hundred or so Pokemon but they are never together on screen and the battles themselves use limited animation, though they are still a huge upgrade from the classic titles.

We've seen a good number of Pokemon appear already but we haven't seen all 60+ yet. There's a good chance that all of these Pokemon will look great and we can only hope that potential sequels and spin-offs introduce more of them.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu comes out on May 10.
