A lot of Star Wars live-action shows are currently in the works. We have The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi which are all have already finished production. There is The Acolyte which will be set in the High Republic era. There will also be shows that center on Ahsoka Tano and Lando Calrissian. Now, there are rumors that Lucasfilm and Disney+ might be working on another live-action Star Wars show.
According to The Hashtag Show, a Star Wars series is currently in early development that will focus on "a force-sensitive Bounty Hunter who represses and hides her force abilities. However, when a target escapes and informs the empire of her abilities, the Inquisitors are sent to track and destroy her."
The report indicated that the series won't be age-restricted as it will gear more towards teens and adults. The Inquisitors will have a prominent role in the series. It is also said to be visually interesting and vibrant. However, there is no information if it will be connected to another series or will feature an existing character in the franchise.
The project has not been officially announced by Lucasfilm or reported by any of the major trades so we have to take this news with a grain of salt. It is an interesting idea however and it looks like it will take Star Wars in a bolder direction since it seems like it will be more of a mature-tone story. We don't know if this project is true or not, but if it does, it sounds like another promising series in the franchise.
There have been questions about the future of Star Wars ever since The Rise of Skywalker ended. But as it was proved by the success of The Mandalorian, it shows that expanding Star Wars into live-action television gave a new life to the franchise. It also gives them an opportunity to tell more stories in the galaxy far, far away.
The next Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett is set to premiere this December 29 on Disney+.
